Radar water level sensor series products refer to frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar products working at 76-81GHz. They are non-contact measuring instruments. It calculates the distance and position between objects by emitting radar signals and receiving reflected signals, and measuring the propagation time and wavelength of the signals.
The general principle of frequency modulated continuous wave radar level meter is that the radar emits electromagnetic waves on the top of the tank. The electromagnetic waves are reflected by the medium and are received by the radar. The frequency difference δf between the received signal and the transmitted signal is in a certain proportion to the distance R from the medium surface: R=C (speed)*δf (frequency difference)/2/K (frequency modulation slope).
Since the speed of light C and frequency modulation slope K are known, the frequency difference δf can be estimated, and the distance R to the material surface at the radar installation location can be obtained. Then from the known total height, subtract the spatial distance from the radar to the water surface to the material surface (referred to as empty height), the height of water level-material level is obtained.
Radar Water Level Sensor Applications
Wastewater treatment: Wastewater treatment plants require constant monitoring of water levels to ensure proper operation, and radar water level gauges can play a role in this area.
Hydrographic measurement: Hydrographic measurement of rivers, lakes and other waters requires high-precision water level meters to monitor water levels, and radar water level meters have become a viable option.

Traditional Water Level Monitoring Technologies
Manual measurement:
Automatic water level monitoring cannot be achieved. Measurements are also not accurate and timely enough.
Ultrasonic water level meter:
Using ultrasonic measurement technology, it is a non-contact measurement and outputs analog signals or digital signals. This technology is non-contact measurement, easy to install, and is almost not restricted by external temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions. However, the measurement accuracy is low and is limited by environmental conditions such as external temperature and humidity. There must be no foreign matter between the object and the object to be measured.
Hydrostatic water level transmitter:
The input pressure water level gauge mostly adopts silicon piezoresistive core and outputs analog or digital signals to the outside. This technology was developed early, is mature, and has high measurement accuracy. However, the water level meter needs to be fixed underwater, making installation and subsequent maintenance troublesome.
Taken together, traditional water level monitoring technology will encounter problems such as low accuracy, difficulty in integration, complex installation, and vulnerability to external environmental influences in actual work.
Radar water level gauge is a new type of liquid level measuring instrument. It has many technical advantages that are incomparable with traditional water level measurement technology.
