The low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant gas drawn from the suction pipe is compressed through the rotation of the motor, which discharges the high-temperature and high-pressure refrigerant gas to the exhaust pipe to power the refrigeration cycle. To avoid making the calculated value of the compression ratio negative, absolute pressure must be used instead of gauge pressure when calculating the pressure ratio. It makes sense to use absolute pressure values to make the compression ratio calculated positive.
